SAFe® / Agile Discovery & Maturity Assessment
At ICON Agility Services, our 2 week Discovery and Maturity Assessment is the first step in guiding organizations toward a successful Agile or SAFe® transformation. This structured two-phase assessment helps leaders understand their organization’s current state, identify barriers to agility, and align on a transformation roadmap grounded in measurable outcomes. Purpose To establish a clear understanding of how your organization currently operates — across leadership, teams, technology, and culture — and determine the level of readiness for scaling Agile practices. The assessment ensures every transformation decision is based on data, not assumptions. Phase 1: Discovery & Current-State Analysis Goal: Reveal the organization’s true level of Agile maturity and alignment across business and delivery functions. Activities Include: Leadership Interviews: Engage with executives and key stakeholders to understand goals, pain points, and desired business outcomes. Team & Role-Based Assessments: Evaluate practices across teams (Scrum Masters, Product Owners, RTEs, etc.) using maturity models aligned with SAFe® and Agile principles. Process & Value Stream Analysis: Examine current delivery workflows, dependencies, and decision-making paths to identify friction points and inefficiencies. Cultural & Organizational Readiness Review: Assess the organization’s mindset, leadership engagement, and openness to continuous improvement. Tooling & Data Review: Analyze how existing tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) support visibility, flow, and metrics. Deliverable: A detailed Maturity Assessment Report with quantitative and qualitative insights, including: maturity scores across key dimensions (Leadership, Teams, Flow, Delivery, and Culture) Identified gaps and risks Strengths and opportunities to accelerate transformation Phase 2: Readout & Transformation Roadmap Workshop Goal: Turn assessment insights into a practical, achievable roadmap for transformation. Activities Include: Executive Readout Session: Present key findings, themes, and maturity scores to leadership in a concise, visual summary. Collaborative Roadmap Workshop: Facilitate a working session to prioritize focus areas, define near-term wins, and set milestones for long-term adoption. Capability Development Planning: Identify where to focus investments in training, coaching, and leadership enablement. Metrics & Measurement Design: Define success criteria and KPIs to track transformation progress and value realization.
